About the Artist

A sixth generation Gallatin County, Montana native, watercolor artist, Keely Holmes has an innate passion and respect for nature and the living creatures that make her home state such a special place. Although her main subjects are of the equine variety, she also enjoys painting many of the other beautiful things, animal and otherwise, that call Montana home.

Keely studied education and art at Montana State University, earning a BS in Elementary Education with a Minor in Art Teaching, K-12. While living in the Seattle, Washington area after college, she ran an educational program for elementary and middle school aged children, and taught art lessons after school. She came back home to Bozeman, Montana in 2007 to help care for her grandparents. Keely spent four years in Seattle and was painfully homesick the last three of them. She will never leave home again. She's here to stay.
